We installed Cygwin on several Microsoft Windows systems (Jan 2012).
Starting the well-known bash command shell resulted in a lot of
STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error messages.
This problem was solved in our case by
- close all programs, windows
- start Windows command prompt
- cd c:\cygwin\bin
- .\ash.exe # start ash, not the bash command shell
- # and type the following commands:
- PATH=. # set PATH environment variable and run:
- rebaseall -v # which may require (quite) some time
After this, everything worked without any problems.
Cygwin's Jan 2012 download has a number of other, so called
"dependency errors", notably in case of a full install !
We don't have the time to document this issue at the moment, but let's see
whether it's solved in due time (next release perhaps ;-)
